The Best Dog Trainers in Edmonton Who Can Make Your Dog the Goodest Boy or Girl
Being a fur parent can be ruff. One minute your pup is cute as a button, the next they’re causing unfurtunate havoc with those puppy eyes you can’t stay mad at.
Puns aside, our early fur parent days were filled with more mayhem than we’d like to admit. The good news is things took a turn for the better after we linked up with top dog trainers. They didn’t just fix the behavior issues but also taught our pups a few tricks that are perfect for showing off.
We’re recommending the best ones in the city!
How much do dog trainers in Edmonton charge?

Naughty Boyz Dog Training Inc.

Address: 7904 104 St NW
Contact Details: +1 587-414-0310
Operating Hours:
- Daily – 10 am to 5 am
If it weren’t for Naughty Boyz Dog Training Inc., our pets would still be cute little rascals. Their Behavior Modification Program was a game-changer, especially since many of our pups struggled with anxiety and over-arousal.
We encountered no hiccups with their techniques either. They employed customized and compassionate approaches, ensuring our dogs received a tailored set of strategies that were not only effective but also ethical.
Moreover, their trainers are some of the most patient and kind folks we’ve met. Our pets weren’t exactly the fastest learners, but the Naughty Boyz team never showed any sign of frustration.
The catch? Classes fill up fast. Booking a specific trainer is also a challenge, especially if they’re the popular choice.
The prices can be a real wallet dent too. For example, the essential home package, which focuses on basics like recall and leash walking, set us back $575 for 3 60-minute sessions.
Consistent
“Govind has helped us SO much over these last few months with our two year old rottie Kimbo. We struggled for so long with inviting people into our home, self regulation and going on stress free walks. After three sessions he has become a completely different dog just by being consistent and following the steps! Kimbo loved him from day one. We will continue to use Naughty Boyz for all of our future training, we appreciate all the help you have given us! Thank you for everything!”

Gave Me More Confidence
“Highly recommend Naughty Boyz training! I’ve used other trainers in the past with my previous dogs and it was never effective. When a new fur friend came into my life in August, I knew I wanted this to be a positive experience and that’s exactly what it was! Everything Govind taught me made sense and even after the first session, I was seeing improvements. Now that we have completed our sessions, I’ll use that foundation to continue on with and build my relationship with my dog! Not only did he give my dog more confidence, he gave me more confidence in being a dog owner! 10/10 experience! Darcie in the office was also super helpful as well, answering all my questions and very accommodating when I needed to reschedule a session. You won’t be disappointed if you hire Naughty Boyz.”

Diamond in the Ruff Inc.

Address: 15927 105 Ave NW
Contact Details: +1 780-999-2001
Operating Hours:
- Daily – 8 am to 8 pm
Diamond in the Ruff Inc. might make your wallet feel lighter, but the results speak for themselves. No shocker here; lead trainer Colleen McCarvill is among the world’s 600 pros holding the prestigious CDBC certification.
Their programs are also force-free, comprehensive, and compassionate, addressing stuff like housetraining, anxiety relief, and aggression issues. Sessions are available in-house or privately, ranging from 4 to 10 meetings, each running for 30 minutes.
So far, everyone we’ve spoken to had no significant complaints about their services, aside from the minor hiccup of long-term commitment. Most even rave about the extra support they receive through weekly Zoom sessions and post-program guidance.
We’d love it if their scheduling were more flexible though. As of 2024, they stick to a non-negotiable time frame, which isn’t ideal for those of us juggling a packed schedule. The bright side is the availability of a fully customized virtual training option.
Very Happy with the Force Free Methods
“We would definitely recommend Diamond in the Ruff Inc. CDBC, cpdt-ka. We had both Colleen and Jenna as trainers. Both were excellent. Always willing to answer questions and help solve any issues we were having with our puppy. We took both the puppy class and the therapy dog class and can highly recommend both classes. We now have a much better behaved dog that we enjoy taking out with us. I was very happy with the force free methods they used for training. Our Australian labradoodle responded very well to the force free methods used in class.”

Great to Work With
“So amazing and great to work with. She goes above and beyond for her clients and is all around an amazing person who I’d recommend to anyone. She has helped our rescue and soo many animals in need when others wouldn’t give us the time of day. She’s super busy but always tries to be accommodating. She truly is a diamond in the Ruff.”

Bark Busters Edmonton

Operating Hours:
- Mon to Sat – 9:30 am to 7:30 pm
It’s tough to beat Bark Busters in terms of patience and dedication.
Carol, in particular, takes a methodical and long-term approach, focusing on understanding the dogs to address their issues.
As for services, their behavior-centered programs receive the most praise. Most fur parents we talked to have stated that they can solve anxiety, aggression, and sensitivity issues no matter how bad it is.
Prices can be bank-breaking, but the good news is you’ll get lifetime support at zero cost. This is fantastic news for previous or current clients who may face a new challenge, though the waiting time can be 2 to 4 months.
The main snag is that they’re hit or miss. Sure, most of our interviewees sang their praises, but there are a few folks who found that Bark Busters’ training didn’t quite do the trick.
Helped out My Troubled Dogs
“Bark busters really helped out my troubled dogs. One session they taught me all the skills I needed to handle and train my 2 dogs. I can ask questions anytime and they get back promptly, and polite. I would highly recommend these trainers.”

Showed Us the Drills
“Carol was great coming to our home and spending the day with us teaching us how to interact with our two dogs. She had great knowledge and patience and showed us the drills of what to do and when. I highly recommend Bark Busters! We are excited to continue with training and positive interactions with Bond and Lily our 2 great dogs. Kerri & Gerald”

Operating Hours:
- Mon to Fri – 6 am to 9 pm
- Sat – 9 am to 4 pm
If you’re on the hunt for a trainer who offers effective, personalized, and downright fun approaches (for both you and your pooch), Sherwood Barks Dog Training is the one to ring.
Reward-based, comprehensive, and force-free courses are their claims to fame, with additional grooming (dog grooming edmonton) and daycare (dog daycare edmonton) services.
In terms of the most sought-after and highest-rated programs, their socialization and agility classes take the cake. The agility class, in particular, is famous for offering 1-on-1 sessions focused on navigating obstacles.
For the cons, the class setup could use an upgrade. Despite the spaciousness, the play and practice areas are in the same location, leading to chaotic training sessions.
Another concern is the class size; it can be overwhelming for one trainer to manage. We attended once, and while the demonstrations were effective, the trainer-to-pet ratio made it difficult to hear at times—even from the front row.
Amazing Team
“Sherwood barks has the most amazing team of people and classes to keep our silly pup busy and entertained. We always have such a blast every night we go, and feel so supported by everyone. Can’t wait for Pippi to ace every class they offer”

Great Trainers
“My puppy loves it there! Great trainers and staff, I feel very secure knowing my puppy is in good hands. They also do great training classes. We’ve done level 1 and 2 and they do a great job ensuring all puppies and their humans understand what to do and aren’t overwhelmed.”

Mallory Hazell of The Canine Scholar is a big name in Edmonton’s dog training scene. Her extensive qualifications, including a With Honors award from the Dog Behavior and Training Methodology certification program (DBTMc), make her a standout choice for pet owners.
Another reason for Mallory’s popularity is her science-based approaches that deal with basic obedience training, reactivity or aggression issues, and more. Yes, they can put a dent in your wallet, but the results are consistently impressive.
Beyond that, her clients laud her for being a joy to work with. She’s engaging, passionate, and lighthearted without skimping on her services.
Plus, she’s a fantastic communicator, breaking down complex concepts so owners can easily understand and prepare for early signs of behavioral issues.
Good luck snagging a spot though. As we mentioned before, she’s in high demand, so it’s likely she’s fully booked by the time you’re reading this.
Always Positive and Fun
“We can’t thank Mallory enough for all the help she provided us with our crazy pup Disco. Everything she suggested worked wonders and we would recommend her to anyone that needs a little guidance with their dog. Training sessions were always positive and fun and Mallory really helped my husband and I get on the same page. Disco LOVED Mallory and her training sessions and we look forward to booking a few more. Thank you!”

Our Dog Loves It
“We recently adopted a puppy and are not very experienced training dogs. We were referred to the Canine Scholar and couldn’t be happier. Mallory has an excellent way of training so that our family and our dog can continue between sessions with all the information and instruction we could ask for. We are comfortable, our son is comfortable, and our dog loves it! We believe in Mallory’s science based training and are seeing results each week. Thank you Mallory…we look forward to our next session!”
