Homestead is a friendly space where entrepreneurs, freelancers, and small businesses can thrive together. We really like how it brings a sense of community while still being productive, creating a lively environment for us to do our best work.

The stylish interiors and large windows let in plenty of natural light throughout the 11,000 square feet of flexible space. We have a choice of private offices, dedicated desks, and meeting rooms, all with high-speed Wi-Fi and essential amenities.

The friendly community atmosphere helps us connect with like-minded individuals through various events, but the memberships can be quite pricey. Limited paid parking options and the lack of weekend hours can also be a challenge for some.

Even with these downsides, the range of workspace options and the supportive vibe at Homestead make it a great place for getting work done and networking.

Pros

  • Central location in downtown Edmonton
  • Variety of workspaces, including dedicated desks and private offices
  • 24/7 access with certain memberships
  • Strong community for networking and collaboration
  • Amenities include boardrooms, a gym, and a podcast space
  • Pet-friendly
  • Coffee and strong Wi-Fi

Cons

  • Expensive memberships

Friendly and Convenient

“This was a great place to wrap up some in-town work I had to do. The owners were really friendly and quick to respond to my booking questions, and the drop-in fees were definitely my first attraction (full or even half day)! The location is incredibly convenient on a main street close to artisanal shops and transit, and can be easily accessed by elevator to the second floor (or take the stairs, if you like). The facility itself is a nicely decorated converted warehouse and features a gender neutral washroom (although I would have preferred floor to ceiling dividers for increased privacy), a bike rack, and cool temps that were really appreciated for a heat wave. Super fast wifi, and I enjoyed working out of a private office. Had I stayed longer, I would have definitely cracked into their library for some inspiration!👌”

Inspiring Environment

“I personally love a mix of working from home and at an office surrounded by inspiring people, to get those jolts of energy and inspiration we can all benefit from. So when I’m not at home, I’m incredibly happy to be working at Homestead. Our team at Adverb rents an office space there and we couldn’t be happier. We have our own beautiful space to work, we welcome clients and partners in to work with us in our space and it’s a great way to bump into other businesses doing great things. Homestead is at the perfect location – nearby beautiful parks, transit and countless amazing local businesses to satisfy every coffee need and food craving. It’s a beautiful building, with a great rooftop (soon to be built out more) and the driving purpose of the Homestead owners and managers is so refreshing and impactful. I love my days at Homestead.”

We’ve been part of the Work Nicer community since it started back in 2015, and it’s been incredible to see it grow into one of the largest coworking spaces. What began with just a small group of friends is now home to over 1,000 members.

Membership here is more than just having a desk. It’s about the community around you! Whether you’re facing a challenge or celebrating a win, there’s always someone nearby who gets it and can lend a hand.

The range of benefits is impressive. You get 24/7 access, fast Internet, meeting rooms, and even quirky perks like root beer on draft and bike sharing, making it a great place to work and collaborate.

At $425 a month, unlimited access to all locations offers great value for those wanting to be part of a community. While it might be costly for startups, the benefits and networking opportunities can really boost productivity as they grow.

Pros

  • Supportive community with helpful members
  • 24/7 access, fast Internet, and meeting rooms
  • Fun perks like root beer on draft and bike sharing
  • Pet-friendly

Cons

  • Costly membership for startups

Beautifully Designed Space

“What a beautiful interior, nicely decorated space. Most importantly, the open space areas are nice and quiet, not a shortage of desks, private pods, or meeting rooms.

My favorite thing (outside of the kitchen/lounge area) is how technologically advanced it is, with tablets indicating booking times for each meeting room, and a super easy laptop to TV screen projection system.

Oh, and the cute little table fans are a nice touch.

Would 10/10 recommend this due to location and all the office conveniences the Work Nicer office comes with.”

Home Away From Home

“Work Nicer is like home away from home, they are not only on a great location downtown, but also they host you in a beautiful renovated historic building, multi office open space with many different rooms if you prefer to stay private, board rooms and charming common areas.

Welcoming staff and MORE than accommodating. Everyone is incredibly helpful and friendly.

Something really worth notice is that during this uncertain times where we all are skeptic about leaving home and our safety, they ensure cleanliness within the space, there are multiple sanitizing stations and always prioritize a helping hand.

Whether you’re someone who prefers to work alone in privacy, or someone who wants to be around highly-driven individuals. Work Nicer is definitely the place for you.

There are so many perks of being a part of this growing community, but my favorite is that the best food is within walking distance and they offer awesome coffee and craft beers with your membership ( and so much more, bike sharing etc)

Work Nicer seriously focus on building a strong and awesome community, you will arrive to a place with a bunch of amazing people and all type of creatives and focused entrepreneurs. This is for sure a place where you can be super productive but also have fun while at it.”

The Workup

Business hours: Monday to Friday – 9 AM to 4:30 PM

The Workup has become our favourite place for a flexible and friendly workspace. It has everything we need for a productive day, from fast Internet to comfy furniture.

The amenities really stand out, with private meeting rooms, an on-site gym, and unlimited coffee. The cosy common areas are great for a quick break or chatting with other members.

We’d definitely recommend The Workup for anyone looking for a laid-back yet productive workspace. The flexible membership options fit different work styles, making it easy to find what works best for us.

There are some downsides we’d like to point out though. The downtown location can sometimes make parking and commuting tricky. Moreover, the shared spaces can feel a bit crowded and lack privacy when it’s busy, and the support on weekends is limited.

Pros

  • Flexible membership options for private offices and shared spaces
  • Amenities like ergonomic furniture and fast Internet
  • 24/7 access for members
  • Collaborative atmosphere encourages networking
  • On-site gym and fitness room
  • Relaxed, well-lit environment with natural light and greenery

Cons

  • Parking/commuting issues due to its downtown location
  • Shared spaces may lack privacy when busy
  • Limited weekend support

Spacious and collaborative

“This space is spacious and I love the lush greenery in the space. Board rooms are available and their chairs are super comfy and ergonomic. Amenities are great including coffee, tea, and little snacks. Overall, I love that Edmonton has a space like this where I can meet like-minded people and collaborate on projects. I travel lots, so this space gives me a desk, while providing a space with other worldly business-minded people. Would highly recommend!!”

A hidden gem for professionals

“As much as I want to gate keep this place, I won’t for the sake of all other professionals in Edmonton. If you’re self-employed, work remotely, or an entrepreneur in the Edmonton area- this is the place to be. It’s clean, quiet, the pricing is simple, and very very fair.

I’ve been to a lot of different businesses centres and coworking spaces but none of them come near to the attention to detail the owner Adam has put into this. There is a handful of little quiet areas to work from, spaces to read or study in peace, free coffee, tea, etc… and a great community behind it. After going just a few times my work has already been more focused.

More importantly, I’ve had some great conversations with other self employed professionals and was able to apply a lot of the tips they gave me. This is more than just a space to work, it’s a space to elevate your career. Thank you so much Adam! So happy to be part of the community!”

Business hours: Monday to Friday – 8 AM to 4 PM

Instagram

URBN offers a range of flexible workspace options that suit different needs.

The membership plans are appealing, with choices for side hustlers and those needing a dedicated office. We like that most plans let us work 24/7, giving us the freedom to set our own schedules.

Each membership comes with extras like meeting room credits and chances to connect with other entrepreneurs. The atmosphere feels friendly, with free coffee and networking events that make it enjoyable.

The flexibility and amenities make URBN a good option for businesses looking to grow. If you’re not sure about coworking, you can always drop by for a free day to see if it suits you.

However, there are a few downsides to think about. Parking and commuting can be tricky, especially during busy times. Moreover, some plans have restrictions on weekend use.

Pros

  • Flexible membership options
  • 24/7 access for members
  • Networking opportunities
  • On-site parking at no extra cost
  • High-speed Internet
  • Yoga classes

Cons

  • Parking and commuting challenges
  • Restricted weekend use for some plans

Fabulous co-working space

“I’ve checked out a lot of different co-working spaces in Edmonton, and URBN is by far my favorite. It has all of the amenities you need to get work done while out of the house, including plenty of shared space, call rooms, dedicated offices, a podcasting room, and more. They also have several different membership options to choose from and grow into if you want to scale up your business. I highly recommend this place.”

Perfect blend of light and comfort

“URBN Cowork is a tiny little paradise in South Edmonton where there is plenty of light and quiet to get your work done! The owners are nice and welcoming, and the space is well-designed and comfortable. There are lots of outlets, big tables, and a clean kitchen with water glasses, mugs, and a coffee machine. And plenty of windows.

Some ideas to make it EVEN BETTER could be to put some sound baffling in the phone/video conference rooms to keep the voices from bouncing around. And to put a sign up that encourages people to take phone calls in the phone booths instead of the common working areas.

I will definitely be back! Thanks for the great experience URBN Cowork!”

It’s impressive how Roundhouse connects MacEwan University with local organisations. The space is open to everyone and fosters a sense of belonging, but it may not be accessible during evenings or weekends.

I absolutely love the community and am thrilled to be a part of such an inclusive, welcoming environment. I am happy to be an advocate for Roundhouse, and always recommend it to other business owners in the Edmonton area.”

Exceptional event support

“I recently hosted a 50 person event at Roundhouse. I cannot express enough how great it was to work with the Roundhouse employees and conference/events team. They were so accommodating, and helped my team think through all of the details for our event. Roundhouse as a space is beautiful, and the people there make it even better! I highly recommend using this space to host any events!”
