8 Must-Try Saunas in Edmonton That Are Worth Every Penny and Drop of Sweat!

I’m not a fan of sweating—whether it’s from working out or enduring the sweltering heat, I do everything I can to avoid feeling sticky, uncomfortable, and, well, hot.

But when it comes to saunas, I make an exception. The warmth boosts blood circulation, relaxes muscles, and leaves my skin feeling incredibly refreshed and plump.

If you’ve never tried it, I highly recommend visiting the best saunas in Edmonton. They’re worth every penny and every drop of sweat!

Synergy Sauna and Spa is a top choice in the city, renowned for its luxurious amenities, affordable rates, and the option to book an exclusive private sauna experience for you and your group.

Packages are priced between $85 and $120 per hour and come with added perks like massage treatments, herbal tea, detox water, and access to a relaxing entertainment area.

One standout option is their Swedish dry sauna package, which greets you with a delightful fruit and charcuterie platter, making for a truly welcoming experience.

Tips:

Saunas here tend to get fully booked quickly, so I recommend setting an appointment at least a week in advance. They do accept walk-ins, but you might end up waiting until a sauna is available.

Note that you will need to provide or bring your own towels and swimming attire, as the spa will not provide them for you (for sanitation purposes). You are also advised not to bring coffee or honey-based scrubs with you inside!

Hot Stones Spa

Address: 13075 156 St NW

Contact Details: +1 587 703 3710

Operating Hours:

Monday to Sunday, 10:00 am to 10:00 pm

Average Price: $170 per hour (Couples), $105 per hour (Group of 8), $50 (30-minute Salt Room Session)

Website

If you’re looking for a unique active salt sauna experience, Hot Stones Spa should be at the top of your list. It’s the only spot in the city with an active salt room, which I love for the added health perks like improved lung and skin health.

Their packages kick off with 1.5 hours in the sauna followed by a 30-minute salt room session. Plus, they throw in access to board games, Netflix, and free Wi-Fi, so you can fully unwind and enjoy every moment.

Tips:

You can bring your own towels and bathrobe, but you can also rent some from the spa for $3 per towel and robe.

Note that for the group booking (up to 8 people), you can ask for a free 30-minute salt room session provided that you book a minimum of 2 hours in the sauna.

If you’re feeling hungry after your session, you can order wine and charcuterie boards from the spa. Just ask the staff members for a menu!

Saturday, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm

Sunday, 10:00 am to 5:00 pm

Average Price: $45 per 45 minutes, per person; $140 for a 3-month membership

Website

One of the standout features of Wellness On Whyte is its infrared sauna memberships. I was pleasantly surprised to learn that spas offer such services, making it a cost-effective option for regular sauna enthusiasts.

The membership provides three months of access to the hot dry sauna rooms, along with complimentary water, coconut oil, and towels.

If you’re not ready for a long-term commitment, they also offer a Classic Sauna package, giving you 45 minutes of sauna time for just $45!

Tips:

If you don’t want to commit to the membership but want to join in on the spa’s perks and privileges, I highly recommend getting the Sauna Loyalty Punch Card. After every Classic Sauna session, you get a sticker on your card. Once you reach ten stickers, the eleventh session is on the house!

Just note that booking additional time and people for your sauna session can only be booked via phone. There are no online booking options for these services, so if you’re tagging along with another person or want to extend your sauna time, call the spa ahead of your visit!

Most people are familiar with hot dry saunas, but at Healing Waters Spa, the steam saunas really stand out, especially for their focus on respiratory health. The rooms are infused with eucalyptus oil, creating a calming atmosphere that puts you at ease.

Personally, I love to make the most of the experience by applying conditioner to my hair and a face mask before stepping into the steam.

The combination of the eucalyptus and the heat opens up your pores, leaving your skin and hair feeling incredibly refreshed and rejuvenated. It’s a little self-care ritual that makes the whole experience even more rewarding!

Tips:

The private steam rooms are currently undergoing renovations, but guests are encouraged to join the spa’s waitlist. Waitlisted guests will be given first dibs on sessions once the newly revamped steam rooms open again!

I highly recommend getting the steam sauna with either the Spa Wrap or the Glow Scrub. These two treatments target dead skin cells and help your skin feel and look young and plump after the session. When coupled with the sauna, your pores will be rewarded with nutrients and moisture!

Royal Wellness Centre

Operating Hours:

Monday to Friday, 9:00 am to 8:00 pm

Average Price: $35 per 15 minutes, per person

Website

Royal Wellness Centre also offers a steam sauna, but what sets it apart is the added touch of aromatherapy. Guests can choose their favourite essential oil, which is diffused into the steam room for a relaxing 15-minute session.

While 15 minutes might sound brief, in my experience, it’s just the right amount of time to fully absorb the healing and rejuvenating effects of the therapy. You can select from various essential oils. I personally recommend lavender for an extra soothing session!

Tips:

If you have extra time and cash to spare, I highly recommend getting the Royal Grand Package. This includes 15 minutes in the steam sauna, plus a body scrub, signature facial, and a 60-minute massage session for $350.

Book your slot ahead of time, as the spa gets fully booked easily, especially in the evening. The best time to schedule a sauna here is in the morning or early afternoon!

Kaya Kama Hammam and Day Spa

Address: 9328 34 Ave NW, Strathcona Square

Contact Details: +1 780 988 5554

Operating Hours:

Monday to Friday, 10:00 am to 7:00 pm

Saturday and Sunday, 10:00 am to 5:00 pm

Average Price: $130 per package

Website

Kaya Kama Hammam and Day Spa specialises in the traditional hammam, a Moorish hot steam sauna and bath treatment practised since the 15th century. Guests relax in a humid, heated room, which offers a deeply rejuvenating experience.

I initially thought the 50-degree Celsius heat might be intense, but it left me feeling refreshed, and the humidity made my skin feel wonderfully plump! It cost me $130, but it already includes a 30-minute massage and exfoliating scrub.

Tips:

If you’re thinking about treating a special someone with a hammam sauna experience, I recommend booking the Spoil Her Package. For $185, the package includes a hammam session, a facial, a body wrap, and an Indian hot oil head massage.

The spa offers monthly and weekly special offers, but slots get fully booked fast. Check out this page for announcements or the latest promotions!

Spasation

Saturday, 9:00 am to 5:30 pm

Sunday, 11:00 am to 5:00 pm

Average Price: Starting from $220 per 90 minutes, per person

Website

Another spa that offers hammam saunas that you should keep on your radar is Spasation. This spa is actually also a salon, so you can get all sorts of beauty treatments here after your sauna sensation.

They offer hammam packages starting at $220 for 90 minutes, which is longer than other hammam spas I’ve visited in the city. If you want a little upgrade, you can spend up to 6 hours in the room as well (a little too much, but worth a shot if you feel like it!).

Tips:

The spa’s hammam rooms are also available for children. They’ll adjust the temperature and herbal oils according to your child’s preference and needs, so don’t worry about the intensity!

Keep in mind that children can’t be left unsupervised in the hammam room. You’ll need to accompany them inside!

The Spa at Ambleside

Media from ambleside.spa

Address: 7011 Armour Bend SW, Triumph Ambleside

Contact Details: +1 587 414 5460

Operating Hours:

Wednesday and Thursday, 10:00 am to 8:00 pm

Friday, 9:00 am to 8:00 pm

Saturday to Sunday, 9:00 am to 6:30 pm

Average Price: $39 per 90 minutes, per person

Website

The Spa at Ambleside stands out from the others on this list because it doesn’t offer traditional sauna packages.

Instead, they provide amenity passes that give guests full access to the spa’s facilities—including saunas, steam rooms, and baths—without needing to book a specific service or treatment.

With a pass, you can enjoy the sauna and other amenities at your own pace, free from time limits or the pressure of staff rushing you. The spa is truly yours to explore and enjoy!

Tips:

Note that the amenity pass doesn’t grant you exclusive use of the saunas and steam rooms. You’ll be sharing them with other pass-holders, so take that into consideration before booking an appointment!

The sauna can accommodate 4 persons at a time. It’s a mixed-gender room, so if you’re iffy about sharing a space with other people of the opposite sex, consider skipping this spa!
