“Say Geronimo!” at the 3 best skydiving spots in Edmonton!
One of the most exhilarating experiences of my life was taking a literal leap of faith—jumping from an aircraft over 10,000 feet above the ground with the city sprawling beneath me.
I used to get squeamish at the thought of skydiving, but it turned out to be one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. If you’re reading this, consider it your sign to face your fear of heights and dive in, quite literally, with style!

Operating Hours: Monday to Sunday, 9:00 am to 9:00 pm

Edmonton Skydive has been making leaps—literally—since 1985, as one of the first skydiving destinations in Western Canada.
They offer drop zones for about 10,000 ft from the ground. The drop will last about 45 seconds, ending with a 3 to 5-minute parachute ride over Edmonton.
The location is also super convenient, just a quick 35-minute drive from Edmonton’s north side, which was a relief since I wasn’t keen on a long trek before jumping out of a plane!
Tips: The provider is known to reschedule skydiving sessions in case of inclement weather. Keep your phone or email on hand in case you get any notifications of rescheduled bookings. If the weather doesn’t seem fine on the date of your visit, it won’t hurt to give them a call in advance to double-check! You can upgrade to skydive at 13,000 feet (above the regular 10,000 feet) for an additional $20 to $40. Expect to freefall for about 60 seconds during this stint! Learn more about it here. |

Another great spot to check out skydiving off your bucket list is Skydive West Edmonton. This provider is all about the thrill and making the most out of the adrenaline rush you feel from take off to landing!
Here, you’ll experience freefalling at 200 km/hour for about a minute before you glide above the city for about 6 minutes. All beginners will be accompanied by their licensed skydivers, so no need to worry about your safety much here!
Tips: Feel free to invite your friends and family to watch you take the leap of your life! There’s a large spectator area just by the skydiving facility. All guests are welcome to bring their own snacks and refreshments. Don’t bring your own camera here even if you are prepared to keep it strapped to your arm. The instructors will capture videos for you using their in-house production services (but these come at an extra cost!). |
Alberta Skydive Central
– Media from albertaskydivecentral
Address: Hwy, AB-54, Red Deer County
Contact Details: +1 587 892 5867
Operating Hours: Monday to Sunday, 9:00 am to 9:00 pm
Fee: Starting at $349 per person
Alberta Skydive Central boasts the highest drop zones in the province, offering an exhilarating skydiving experience. With a fleet of 8 aircraft and a track record of over 50,000 successful jumps, their experience speaks for itself.
The sheer number of jumpers they’ve guided over the years gives me confidence that their instructors are seasoned pros. Knowing you’re in expert hands makes that leap from 14,000 feet a little less nerve-wracking, in my opinion!
Tips: Booking sessions here can be tricky because they’re usually fully booked, especially on weekends. I highly recommend booking a session with 2 to 4 weeks lead time to ensure that you get a slot! While the instructors offer video services, note that the videography is subject to weather conditions. The services may not always be available, so I highly recommend indicating that you wish to avail of them ahead of time! |
