Dancing is fun, but why not spice it up a little by dancing with your partner? Sugar Swing Ballroom offers dance classes for couples, ranging from different styles like jazz, swing, and more!
Their signature class, as the name implies, is swing or Lindy Hop—a lively, upbeat dance style that’s both fun and energetic. While it might feel a bit intense if you’re new to fast-paced moves, it’s a fantastic experience to try with your loved one!
Tips: You and your partner can undergo a level assessment if you want to pursue more swing classes. This helps the dance company place you in a class that suits your skill level. This is not necessary, but guests usually dress up in 50s or vintage-inspired clothing during Friday or Saturday night classes. Consider doing so with your partner if you both want to truly immerse yourself in the Lindy Hop experience. |

Go-kart racing is a timeless date idea for adventurous couples, and the top spot to rev up your engines is at SPEEDERS. This expansive, state-of-the-art entertainment facility boasts an indoor kart circuit designed for both junior and adult racers.
You and your partner can zoom down the track for 10 thrilling laps, racing head-to-head or alongside other visitors. Whether you’re competing against each other or the crowd, the excitement is guaranteed!
Tips: Note that there is a minimum height requirement to race on the adult go-karts. Guests must be at least 5”1 to drive the karts and preferably hold a driver’s licence. They’re not required, but you’re still encouraged to show the staff upon entry that you have one! While they do accept walk-ins, I highly recommend booking your slots online ahead of time. Karts and time slots are subject to availability, so if you don’t want to wait too long, book ahead! |

Arts and crafts are becoming a trendy date idea, so I didn’t hesitate to include a pottery painting class at Crankpots Ceramic Studios on this list. This studio offers guests the opportunity to paint all sorts of ceramics and unleash their creativity.
You and your partner can choose an unlimited number of ceramic pieces (sold per piece), and paint as many as you can. Take your time as the fees include a day’s use of the studio (so long as you take them home once they’re all glazed and dry!).
Tips: Is painting not enough? You can decorate your chosen pieces with ornaments and small trinkets for an extra fee. Small designs start at $10, while other bigger and more intricate trinkets can go upwards of $30. Aside from ceramic tableware, you can also decorate and paint figurines and statues. They’re a little pricier though. Pieces range between $50 and $100, but they’re good as souvenirs from your date! |

Visiting a zoo is another classic date idea that I think is a must-do when you’re in the city. Edmonton Valley Zoo is home to over 350 animals, fun rides, educational programs, and many attractions to keep you and your beloved occupied.
The zoo is focused on conservation, so you’ll also learn a lot about how the management ensures animal welfare, safety, and habitat preservation. If you’re an animal lover, this spot is surely going to be a date to remember!
Tips: The zoo is all about accessibility. You can request sensory bags from KultureCity upon arrival. There are also multiple quiet areas and headphone zones! If you want to take part in the zoo’s efforts to conserve animals, you can lend a hand by sending donations here. You also have the option to adopt/sponsor an animal for a year or join the Valley Zoo Development Society volunteer group. You can read more about the programs on the same page. |

Contact Details: +1 780 988 7873
Operating Hours:

Tuesday to Friday, 10:00 am to 7:00 pm
Saturday, 10:00 am to 5:00 pm

Who doesn’t love a spa day? Treat your partner to a relaxing spa experience for two at the Healing Waters Spa.
They offer a Healing Couples package which includes glow scrubs, hydrolift facials, nail care, spa wraps, massages, and more! There are other packages you can book or customise to your liking with your beloved.
At the end of that, both of you will come out refreshed and new!
Tips: The spa offers a special hammam experience where you can book a private steam sauna session for two or more. Note that the sauna is not recommended for pregnant women or for those who are expecting, so plan accordingly. I strongly suggest pairing the steam sauna with either the Spa Wrap or the Glow Scrub. Both treatments work to remove dead skin cells, leaving your skin refreshed, youthful, and supple. When combined with the sauna, your pores will absorb beneficial nutrients and hydration! |

Operating Hours: Monday to Sunday, 5:00 am to 11:00 pm

Rundle Park is one of the city’s most beloved destinations, thanks to its prime location along the north bank of the river. In spring and summer, it boasts lush green lawns, while winter transforms it into a snowy wonderland.
No matter the season, the park offers a wide range of outdoor activities, from leisurely strolls and biking to cross-country skiing and snowshoeing. For a charming experience, I highly recommend taking a romantic walk through the scenic grounds!
Tips: There’s ample parking space on the park grounds in case you’re bringing a car. I do recommend visiting on a weekday or earlier on a weekend to avoid the crowds and find a parking spot easier. If you want to take your date here to another level, you can rent a paddle boat from the Rundle Paddling Centre or My Lake House Edmonton and take a boat ride around the ponds. You can live out an iconic scene from “The Notebook” here! Just note that you can’t bring your own paddling equipment or boats here. |

Sunday, 1:00 pm to 6:00 pm

As a true foodie (and married to one), cooking classes have always been our favourite date night activity. The city has plenty of options, but our absolute favourite is Get Cooking.
They offer a fantastic variety of classes, covering cuisines from Chinese to Italian.
Plus, for an extra touch of fun, you can enjoy a selection of drinks while you cook. Trust me, I highly recommend opting for the wine! It’s a great way to spice up your cooking experience and make the night even more memorable.
Tips: Free parking is available only in the evenings and on weekends. The parking lot is at 11 Street at MacEwan University. To get free parking, you must send an email to [email protected] upon confirming your class slot. Note that classes are limited to a small number of students per class. Sessions tend to sell out quickly, especially on weekends. I recommend booking a cooking class for you and your date at least two days in advance! You can check out the different class offerings here. |
Catch a play or musical at the Citadel Theatre
– Media from citadeltheatreyeg
Address: 9828 101A Ave
Contact Details: +1 780 425 1820
Fee: Prices vary per show. Inquire on the website for more details.
If your date is not an Edmontonian, I highly recommend you take them to the Citadel Theatre and catch a live show there. It’s one of the best places to showcase the very best of the city’s arts and theatre scene, so consider booking your tickets.
Shows range from musicals, dramas, and concerts from both local and international arts and theatre groups. You can find a list of resident and visiting showcases on the website, and I highly recommend you book your seats well in advance!
Tips: You can reserve a parking slot in advance. This way, you can breeze through the theatre grounds in your car without having to wait for a free slot. If you or your date is hard of hearing, you can request the management to assign your seats close to the theatre’s American Sign Language (ASL) interpreters. There are interpreters on the side and patrons who deal with hard of hearing will be given priority in these seats. |

Friday to Saturday, 12:00 pm to 10:00 pm
Sunday, 12:00 pm to 8:00 pm
Fee: $13.95 per person, per round
Mini golf is a great date idea if you want to show off your swing while still having plenty of time to chat. One of the top spots in the city for this is Monster Mini Golf.
What makes this course stand out is its glow-in-the-dark theme, where the entire setup—from the obstacles to the course itself—lights up in vibrant neon colours. This not only adds a fun and unique twist but also makes it a bit more challenging.
And to top it off, you get to play while a DJ sets the mood with awesome tunes, making it even more lively!
Tips: There’s an arcade inside the mini golf course if you want to kill more time. There’s a separate fee to enter the gaming area, but I recommend getting the Monstrous Mix package which includes a round of mini golf and $25 credit for arcade games. You can get all this for just $30 per person! The best time to visit is on a weekday afternoon. Evenings and weekends are usually when there are more people in the arena, which may result in you having to rush each course to let others try them out. |
