Treat your kitty to a getaway at the 5 best cat hotels in Edmonton!

  • Proven track record: I selected cat hotels with at least five years of experience and a long-standing base of loyal clients.
  • Safety and security measures: I chose cat hotels that enforce strict safety and security measures, including smoke alarms, burglar alarms, heat sensors, and more.
  • Facilities and equipment: I ensured that the cat daycares I selected offer spacious rooms to accommodate cats of all sizes. I also included those with large play areas, climbing structures, and grooming stations within the same facility.
  • Rates: I selected cat daycares that provide reasonable rates aligned with the typical costs in the city. I also took into account additional fees for services such as medication assistance and hand-feeding.

Although I’m more of a dog lover, I have to admit that cats have also found their way into my heart. My mom’s cat and I go way back, and it’s hard to imagine my hometown without her roaming around the house.

Since cats are naturally independent, my mom has had no trouble caring for hers over the years. However, when she goes on holiday, I often take over—either by pet-sitting or booking her cat into a daycare.

There are many cat daycares in Edmonton that I trust for their facilities, safety, care, and great attention to the needs of cats. Here are my top picks!

How much do pet hotels in Edmonton cost?

Pet hotels charge a range of $20 to $45 a night for a single cat.
Rates may vary depending on the number of cats you’ll be boarding as well as fees for medication administration, feeding, and grooming.

Little Paws Inn is my top choice for my puppies and my mom’s elderly cat, as I trust them to provide excellent care.

They charge $23 a day for cat daycare, plus $20 for a second cat, and offer grooming services like baths, nail trimming, and feeding for both short- and long-haired breeds.

What I appreciate most is their special attention to elderly cats like my mom’s. However, I do have a couple of concerns.

Their new client deposit and boarding reservation systems can be inconvenient, especially since they don’t operate on Sundays, which may pose challenges for cat owners needing that day off.

Additionally, if you don’t have a major credit card, you’ll need to provide a $200 deposit, one of the highest in the city compared to the daily rate. There’s also a $3 surcharge for peak-season boarding, but given the quality of service, I don’t see this as a major issue.

Pros

  • Offers grooming services
  • Affordable rates
  • Wide range of services

Cons

  • Does not offer daycare services on Sundays
  • Pricey deposit

Carers that treat your dog like their own

“The owners and staff have always treated our darling Darla with a lot of tender love and care. They showed up for us and Darla in big ways over the years. They recently stepped in to help us when we needed them most. This is a good place for dog families.”

Sublime Cat N’ Canine is a great choice for cat daycare, especially for kittens. Their facilities feature high-rise playgrounds, toys, cat trees, interactive TVs, and plenty of natural sunlight.

The staff provide individual care for kittens and adult cats in spacious play areas, ensuring they receive ample stimulation. They typically don’t allow cats from different households to interact, giving you peace of mind.

For boarding, they recommend bringing your own carrier, but one can be provided free of charge if needed.

You won’t have to worry about food unless your cat has specific dietary needs. They can provide dry or wet food for an additional $2 to $3.

You can enhance your cat’s stay with their Exit Bath Special, which includes a bath, ear cleaning, and nail trimming for $40 to $50, depending on age and breed.

They can administer medication for an extra $2, but note that they can’t handle injectables.

Pros

  • Provides carriers
  • Offers premium cat food
  • Well-equipped facilities

Cons

  • Doesn’t administer injectables
  • Lots of extra charges

A daycare you can trust for years

“I get my cats shaved here and they do a very good job. My cats don’t come home traumatised (anymore than shaving them would anyways haha). Been taking my cats here for a year now.”

Cosy Kitty Accommodations features a spacious 3,700 square-foot play area, making it an excellent daycare for playful cats. This is a cats-only facility, so your felines won’t interact with dogs.

Their boarding includes a flat-screen kitty TV, chase toys, cat trees, and cosy cubby holes for sleeping and scratching. Each suite comes with two landing pads and a hanging hammock for extra comfort.

At $24 a night, their services are well worth it, but they require a minimum two-night stay, so they’re not ideal for one-night boarding.

You can schedule a free visit to see the facilities, but note that they do not accommodate diabetic cats, despite offering emergency care.

Pros

  • Cat-only facility
  • 3,700 sq. ft of play space
  • Allows ocular visits

Cons

  • Not suitable for diabetic cats
  • Minimum 2-night stay

Superb quality of professionalism and cat care

“I really adore this place! First time I used it was when my husband and I had our honeymoon. It was really reassuring to see what they offer, and how the staff is very compassionate, accommodating and very understanding. From each staff member, and all the guest cats, there’s so much warmth. I get really anxious when my cats are away, but I feel more at ease knowing the quality of professionalism and care there is. My biggest thanks for caring for my cats as if they were your own.”

Great for long-term boarding

“Frisky had a really good stay here, amazing and loving staff helping him settle in for a month. Even surprised us when we learnt that he made some new fur friends when he was supposedly a cat hater! Staff is great with updating us on him as well. We will choose this boarding place again on our next trip away :)”

Club Mead Pet Resort is a short drive from the city centre and provides a fantastic staycation for your cats. This family-owned cat boarding centre has been serving Edmontonians since 1993.

Out of most of the cat daycares I’ve been to in the city, this resort offers one of the most comprehensive packages for the price you pay. Hourly daycare runs for $7 an hour, with an extra $25 to $65 a night for overnight boarding.

Multiple cats from the same household share one suite, though!

When it comes to the services, they offer free cat food and medical administration, even for diabetic cats here. This is a bug plus, considering that many daycares usually charge extra for these services.

You can also trust them to take your cats to the vet if needed. The service costs $150, on top of any medical fees. It’s pricey, but it’s good to know that the staff offers this in case of any emergencies.

Pros

  • Free medication administration
  • Free food supply

Cons

  • Pricey
  • Multiple cats share one suite

A daycare that gives you peace of mind

“I was so nervous leaving my cat behind when I went to Europe this summer, but Club Mead erased my fears entirely and brought me so much peace of mind.

They accommodated us at the last minute after we had a cancellation from someone else, and I’m so glad our original plans fell through because we would have never found this place if they hadn’t!”

Makes sure your at is well-fed

“We leave both our cat and our dog here. Our dog is really shy but they do a good job making sure he is comfortable. They even hand fed him his first time after he wasn’t eating. It’s also great to know our cat is taken care of and isn’t over eating.“

Posh Pooch Hotel and Daycare raises the standard for cat boarding, offering one of the largest capacities in the city. Their spacious, private rooms ensure cats stay comfortable and calm, no matter their size or personality.

A major perk is the access to a large play area throughout the stay. Owners can bring along familiar bedding. I always bring my mom’s cat’s favourite blanket, especially during the holidays when she might need extra comfort.

A nice bonus? They wash the bedding before checkout!

Safety is a top priority, with security cameras and heat, smoke, and water sensors in place. The photo updates they send during the stay are also a heartwarming touch that keeps me reassured.

While their services are excellent, the mandatory assessment fee can be inconvenient. Also, keep in mind they only board spayed or neutered cats.

Pros

  • Offers holiday boarding
  • Well-equipped facilities
  • Has 50 rooms

Cons

  • Requires assessment before acceptance
  • Bed comes with an extra charge

A daycare that actually cares

“We’ve been going to Posh Pooch for a few years with our dog and two cats, either for daycare or longer term boarding when travelling, and they always take such good care of our animals. The staff is just so great, and the posted pictures daily let us know our  pets are safe and having fun! Additional services like baths and trimming are always done with the utmost of care and have them looking great! Highly recommend Posh Pooch!”

Best cat room in town

“I’ve brought my two cats here a few times, with the longest being 11 nights over the Christmas holidays. Whenever I pick them up, they always look happy and healthy. Thanks to the photos that are regularly posted on social media, I know that they are having fun in the cat room. There’s toys, scratching posts, multiple things to climb, and a fireplace to make the place more enjoyable for them. I would highly recommend their cat boarding services.”
