Another luxurious but modern romantic staycation spot is the JW Marriott Edmonton. My husband and I spent a night here for our anniversary, and it was one of the best celebrations we’ve ever splurged ourselves on.
Aside from the cosy rooms, we spent a few hours lounging and enjoying the relaxing services they offered at the spa. If you can book a couple’s massage at this hotel at a discounted rate, I highly recommend you book a slot FAST!

The Westin Edmonton is another option I recommend for romantic getaways near the heart of the city. One of the hotel’s highlights is their friendly service, which I always thought made me feel at home whenever I visit.
Their rooms are clean, spacious, and comfortable. It’s the kind of luxury that won’t really break your bank, but you still get a little more than what you paid for.
Plus, the food here hasn’t failed to impress me!
| Tips: If you don’t want to leave your pets behind at home, why not bring them with you? The hotel doesn’t charge you any extra fees for booking a night with your pets (which is unheard of in most luxury hotels). Just note that you can only bring a maximum of 2 pets per room! I absolutely love Beaver Hills Retreat, and it’s not just because of the romantic vibes but also because of the charming cottage ambience. It’s like living in a small but cosy dream home with all the privacy you want just 30 minutes away from the city.
Rooms are clean, cosy, and well-furnished, so you pretty much have everything you need for a comfortable stay. Not to mention, you’re surrounded by nature and the starry sky at night!
| Tips: The cottage requires a minimum of two nights when booking. If you’re only here for a night, I recommend you find someplace else. You are allowed to bring a dog with you, but you’ll need to register them upon booking. They also only allow well-trained dogs over 2 years old and under 50 lbs. You also need to keep them on a leash at all times and secure a non-refundable $100 fee for each pet. |

Just a short drive from Edmonton, Elk Island Retreat has become one of my favourite romantic escapes. The cosy geodomes provide the perfect mix of comfort and nature, with Nespresso machines and ceiling fans to keep you relaxed.
Outside, there’s a private BBQ area, picnic table, and fire pit—perfect for a quiet evening together. And on clear nights, you might even be lucky enough to catch the Northern Lights painting the sky.
It’s the ideal spot to reconnect and unwind, just a few miles from the hustle and bustle of the city!
| Tips: Remember, although you can reserve your stay online, check-in is only permitted during their specified office hours. If you arrive outside these hours, they may not be able to accommodate you. For an ultimate romantic retreat, you can book a session in their mirrored sauna room during your stay. It’s basically a private hot sauna room wherein the walls are made of one-way mirrors, giving you the best views of the wilderness but all the privacy in the world (don’t worry, you totally can’t be seen from the outside!). |
