The west end’s Lewis Estates Golf Course isn’t just award-winning; it’s a stunner. Fly a drone over its lush fairways, flawless greens, and bang-on water hazards, and you’ll see why crowds are drawn here.

In terms of fun and frustration, the 18-hole championship course nails both. In fact, it’s among the most recognized spots for rookies and low handicappers.

Guys’ nights and tournaments are regular events here. Level up your experience by visiting during these lively gatherings.

Mill Woods Golf Course

From millwoodsgc

Address: 4540 50 St NW

Contact Details: +1 780-448-1601

Operating Hours: Daily – 8 am to 8 pm

Golf Season: Apr 5 to Oct 31

Website

With its 6,778-yard putting green, open fairways, and a 33-stall driving range, Mill Woods Golf Course helped us up our game.  But don’t get cocky; those water hazards and tricky slopes can make even the sharpest golfers break a sweat.

As for views, this one isn’t the most head-turning; think a few yellowish fairways and bald patches that have seen better days. The silver lining is there are loads of amenities around the 18-hole course, such as the restaurant, pro shop, and even an off-leash dog park.

Tips:

The closest parking spaces are found at Mill Woods Town Center.

Twin Willows Golf Club

From idiosyncratic.goat

Address: 14110 156 St NW

Contact Details: +1 780-447-2934

Operating Hours: Daily – 7 am to 8 pm

Golf Season: Apr 15 to Oct 31

Website

The northwest’s Twin Willows Golf Club is on the fast track to becoming our greenhorn’s go-to. Impeccably maintained with a Scottish-style layout, it boasts wide, open fairways for stress-free swings.

Our advanced players don’t get bored here, especially last time when they hit the 12th hole, which demanded shots over water. Additionally, there are 8 water hazards, 45 bunkers, and pesky winds spicing things up.

Tips:

Prices can differ daily, so check their updated fees.

Victoria Golf Course

From tvnatasha

Address: 12130 River Valley Rd NW

Contact Details: +1 780-496-4710

Golf Season: Apr 1 to Oct 30

Website

Victoria Golf Course is a top pick for beginners and mid-handicap players. Flat terrain, 18 holes, and a 2-tiered, 61-stall driving range gave it a “forgiving” status for such golfers.

On top of that, this 18-hole golf course is quite historic, being the oldest city-run course in Canada. The beauty is spot-on too, with undulating greens, thick trees, and river views from its River Valley (edmonton river valley) location.

Tips:

You can book your tee time 7 days in advance by calling 311.

Riverside Golf Course

From kelleykeehnbiz

Address: 8630 Rowland Rd NW

Contact Details: +1 780-496-4710

Operating Hours: Daily – 7:30 am to 9 pm

Golf Season: Apr 1 to Oct 31

Website

Riverside Golf Course isn’t messing around. Sure, the river valley views are a treat, but those tight fairways and tree-packed holes will have you sweating over every swing—and probably hunting for a few lost balls.

Add in the sneaky elevation changes, and it’s clear Riverside is more of an intermediate golfer’s stomping ground. Still, it’s worth a go, especially since you won’t be fighting crowds for tee times.

If the standard 18 doesn’t cut it, The Quarry’s sprawling 27 championship holes might. Here, you can take on around 7,600 yards of challenging greens, often used by mid-level golfers to practice.

The last time we swung by, we loved every second; the Granite section was especially fun and mind-soothing despite the difficulty level. We had issues with its water hazards, but the lakeside setting eased us out.

Tips:

Join one of their tournaments if you’re competitive.
