I’ll admit that I don’t have the energy to hit the clubs every weekend like I used to, but I’ve made some unforgettable (and sometimes wild) memories of partying until the early hours with great friends.
While Edmonton is often known for its craft breweries, our city knows how to party just as hard. The club scene here is vibrant and diverse, offering everything from gay bars to speakeasies that transform into energetic dance hubs.
If you’re ready to dive into Edmonton’s nightlife, here’s a list of my absolute favourite nightclubs to get you started!
Y AfterHours

If you’re a big fan of electro music, then a night at Y AfterHours may be your cup of tea. This nightclub is one of the most popular ones in the city, especially among the younger generation of young adults.
The club has 3 levels with a spacious dance floor, comfortable seating, and a diverse range of drinks and bar bites to munch on throughout the night. The rotating DJs are also big hits among the guests!
| Tips: If you want to stay away from the dance floor for a little while, there’s a small section on the second level where you can just sit back and enjoy the music. There are door charges at the nightclub that you have to pay upon reserving a table or upon entry. These charges are consumable, by the way! |
99ten

99ten is a popular hotspot in the city, known for its vibrant events that draw in a lively crowd. From nostalgic 80s disco nights to electrifying EDM and dancehall parties, there’s always something exciting happening.
To complete the experience, 99ten offers a tasty selection of bar bites and a wide variety of cocktails and spirits, keeping you fueled for a night of fun that lasts into the early hours.
| Tips: Tune in to their Instagram page for updates on upcoming events in the club. Some nights, they host live music featuring local bands and musicians. If you’re more into live music instead of the clubbing scene, this may be something to look forward to. If the crowd isn’t too bad, you can actually order food from the neighbouring restaurant, The Common, and consume it in the bar. You can only do this when it’s not crowded in both establishments, though. |
The Illusion Lounge

The spacious dance floor and warm, welcoming staff create an inviting setting.
| Tips: For the best experience, book VIP bottle service to get a private table, drinks, and bar bites. The packages are pricey with a 4-hour limit, so bring enough guests to make the most of what you’re paying for! Keep in mind that a cover charge applies if you arrive after 11:45 PM. To avoid the extra fee, it’s best to get there early and join the queue before 11:00 PM. This way, you’ll skip the door charge and enjoy the night without the added cost! |
The Bower

The Bower doesn’t look like most nightclubs in the city thanks to the wooden decors and intimate space. However, don’t let the cosy facade deceive you. Some rager parties are hosted here every weekend!
They open earlier than most clubs to give way to people who simply want a quiet and chill drinking session early into the night. Once the clock strikes midnight, though, this small bar turns into a club blasting pulsating beats and offering loads of fun!
| Tips: There is free parking near the club, but the slots are limited. If all the slots are full, there is a paid parking lot right behind The Bower. The food menu here is quite limited, but you can order more from the club’s sister restaurant Red Star. It’s just right next door, and they offer more items on their menu. I highly recommend ordering food here before heading into the club! |
Evolution Wonderlounge

If you’re searching for a lively gay bar in town, look no further than Evolution Wonderlounge (it’s also the only gay bar serving the 2SLGBTQ+ community all year)!
This vibrant spot serves up delicious cocktails and bottle service, all while hosting unforgettable drag shows and events that make weekend nights truly special.
Every Friday and Saturday, the dance floor pulses with electro and disco beats, and the energy is electric. I love that they bring in incredible performers like Cazwell, Amanda Lepore, and Bianca Del Rio, making each visit a unique experience.

The Chvrch of John

Don’t let the name fool you—Chvrch of John isn’t your typical place of worship. Instead, it’s a haven for electrifying house music and a laid-back vibe that I absolutely love.
Every weekend, the energy is contagious as a lively crowd gathers to dance to the beats of world-class DJs and producers. I’ve had some unforgettable nights there, especially with the club’s bottle service!
| Tips: The best time to book a bottle service here is on Wednesdays. The club offers a select range of hard liquor for only $200. Just note that a 20% gratuity is applied to the overall bill. The club is known for its very strict dress code. Come in smart casual attire, and try not to bring a purse or side bag. They won’t let you in if you carry a big bag with you. For the ladies, keep the hems of your dresses within a comfortable length. Don’t wear a dress that easily rides up! |
Sober Up Club

Looking for a nightclub that I highly recommend for a girls’ night out? The Sober Up Club is one of my go-tos with my girlfriends because they play fun electro music hosted by female guest DJs.
The tunes are a highlight, but so is the service. You can reserve tables with a minimum spend starting at $300 (which I think isn’t all that bad if you’re coming with a group of girlfriends).
| Tips: I highly recommend coming in before 11:00 pm to get slots in their free guest list. There’s no minimum spend here, but slots run out fast, so drop by early! The club has an official photographer who goes around the club to take pictures of guests. Photos will then be posted on their social media pages. If you’re uncomfortable with your photos being taken, make sure to inform any of the servers, bartenders, or the photographer. |
On The Rocks
