The Best Slurp-Worthy Ramen in Edmonton
Ramen has become one of my go-to comfort foods, especially on chilly days when I need something warm and filling. There’s just something about a rich, flavorful broth paired with springy noodles that hits the spot every time.
Over the years, I’ve tried a bunch of different places and ramen variations, from classic tonkotsu to bolder flavours. Some spots keep it traditional, while others put their own twist on it.
If you’re craving a good bowl, here are some of my favourite ramen restaurants in Edmonton!
Menya Mori
– Media from eatwithshar0n
Website: https://menyamori.square.site/
Address: 10350 124 St
Operating Hours: Tuesday to Sunday – 11 AM to 2 PM; 4 PM to 8:30 PM
Menya Mori started as Kasey Ramen in 2020, making ramen kits that were so good they built a loyal following without even having a storefront. After three years, they finally opened a spot in the old Prairie Noodle Shop space, and I had to check it out.
Finally getting to try their Lemon Shio Tokusei in a proper bowl, I knew I made the right call going for a clear broth. It came loaded with a variety of toppings, and the broth had a bright citrus kick that lifted the tender pork and springy noodles.
Pro Tips: Get there right at 11 AM to avoid the line, as the shop gets busy fast. Also, they may close early if the soup runs out, so don’t wait too long to go. Bring your own container if you plan on taking leftovers since they don’t provide any. |
Jinya Ramen Bar
Website: https://www.jinyaramenbar.com/
Address: 10037 109 St NW
Phone: +1 780 249 6658
Operating Hours:
- Sunday to Thursday – 11:30 AM to 10 PM
- Friday & Saturday – 11:30 AM to 11 PM
Jinya Ramen Bar is popular for its 20-hour simmered broth and offers a build-your-own menu for a customized ramen experience. As you enter the bar, you’ll be greeted with a buzz of conversations in a lively, open space that’s ideal for enjoying a casual meal.
During my visit, I went for the Original 2010 Ramen, and the first thing that stood out was the wide, chewy noodles. I also loved that they offer cocktails on their menu, like the Crazy Momotary, which had roasted peaches and a bold hit of cinnamon.
Pro Tip: If you have dietary restrictions, they offer gluten-free noodles as an option. Just let them know when you order. |
Tokiwa Ramen

Website: https://tokiwaramen.ca/
Address: 11978 104 Ave NW
Phone: +1 780 761 1400
Operating Hours: Open daily – 11 AM to 3 PM
Tokiwa Ramen is a small spot with around 30 seats, and the line moves fast but fills up quickly. During my visit, I couldn’t help but notice the massive portions coming out from the kitchen, which made the wait even more exciting.
I ordered the Goma Goma Ramen, featuring a creamy sesame pork broth simmered for ten hours, topped with chopped pork instead of the usual braised slices. I appreciate how the soup was deeply savoury without being too salty.
Pro Tip: The restaurant closes at 3 PM and often sells out earlier, so don’t come late. Arriving just 15 minutes before they open gives you the best shot at a seat before the line stretches down the building. |
Shiawase Ramen

Website: https://shiawaseramen.ca/
Address: 623 Cameron Heights Dr NW
Phone: +1 780 244 2224
Operating Hours:
- Monday to Thursday – 12 PM to 9 PM
- Friday to Sunday – 11 AM to 9 PM
Shiawase Ramen is a small spot tucked inside a strip mall, with dishes carefully prepared by Chef Rafael. One thing that caught my attention was that it shares a space with a pizza place, an unusual pairing that made me curious about their menu.
I decided to try the spicy miso ramen along with the karaage and gyoza. The ramen had a creamy broth with the right amount of spice, and what surprised me was how flavorful it was without being overly oily.
Pro Tip: Since it shares a space with Monty Pizza & Pasta, you can grab a pizza to go while you’re there. It’s a convenient option if you’re craving both ramen and a slice. |
Dorinku Osaka

Website: https://osaka.dorinku.ca/
Address: 10328 Jasper Ave
Phone: +1 780 761 9990
Operating Hours:
- Sunday to Thursday – 11:30 AM to 1:30 PM; 4 PM to 9:30 PM
- Friday & Saturday – 11:30 AM to 1:30 PM; 4 PM to 11 PM
Dorinku Osaka offers separate lunch and dinner menus, along with a fresh fish bar, and a cozy 20-seat ramen room at the back. Even though they were busy, we were seated quickly, and our server was attentive, keeping our drinks filled and checking in often.
This time, I went for the vegan ramen instead of my usual meat-based choice. The nutty, creamy tonkotsu-style broth, paired with veggies, and a touch of chilli oil proved plant-based ramen can be just as delicious as any ramen!
Pro Tip: Check out the back corner for Japanese video games if you’re up for some nostalgia. There’s also a row of vending machines stocked with Japanese sodas and sweet drinks to try. |
Hu’s Noodle Nook

Operating Hours:
- Sunday to Thursday – 11:30 AM to 7 PM
- Friday – 11:30 AM to 8 PM
- Saturday – 12 PM to 8 PM
Hu’s Noodle Nook had been on my radar for a while, so I finally dropped in for lunch. The specials on the menu were tempting, but I went with the Tan Tan ramen since it was marked as a local favourite.
The thick pork broth had a deep, roasted flavour from the ground peanuts, with just enough heat from sesame oil and pepper bits to keep it balanced. To finish, I also ordered mochi ice cream and jasmine tea, which made for a light refreshing treat.
Pro Tips: Take advantage of the daily specials, like discounted Tan Tan on Tuesday, or a free egg with your bowl on Wednesday and Thursday. On weekends, ordering Ebi Tempura gets you free veggie spring rolls. Swing by during happy hour from 4 PM to 5 PM, Tuesday to Thursday, and get a free canned pop with any ramen, noodle, or rice bowl. |
Kaiyu Ramen at Izakaya Tomo
– Media from kaiyuramen
Address: Izakaya Tomo, 3739 99 St NW
Phone: +1 780 440 9152
Kaiyu Ramen, a monthly pop-up at Izakaya Tomo, is a must-visit for ramen lovers, with everything made from scratch including their handmade noodles. Their menu features rotating specials, house-made takoyaki, and Hiroshima-style okonomiyaki.
For $15, I had the Iekei ramen, a rich and hearty Yokohama-style ramen that uses twice the amount of bones and meat compared to regular tonkatsu. With its deep, flavorful broth, it’s no wonder why its hosting restaurant was voted Edmonton’s Favourite Ramen Restaurant during the 2022 Readers’ Choice Awards.
Pro Tips: Stay tuned to their Instagram and Facebook pages for updates on the next pop-up schedule. You won’t want to miss it! They’re prioritizing walk-in customers, so reservations are limited. However, if you’re coming from out of town, like Calgary, you can still request a reservation. |

Damso Izakaya is a hidden gem on Whyte Ave that serves quality Japanese food without long waits or high prices. The menu has a mix of fried bites, sushi, and sashimi, and you can get a satisfying meal for not more than $30!
I stopped by for their lunch special and ordered the tonkotsu ramen, which came with pork, green onions, corn, crispy onions, and fish cake in a rich broth. You can add extra toppings, but even without them, it was a filling and tasty meal.
Pro Tip: On rainy days, Damso Izakaya offers 50% off okonomiyaki. Keep an eye on the weather and treat yourself! |

The menu is packed with a variety of dishes, from ramen and chow mein to bold, spicy noodle soup. I went for the veggie ramen, and the best part? They offer two free refills on ramen noodles!

Operating Hours: Open daily – 11 AM to 11 PM
Donburi King is a great spot for Japanese rice bowls, serving generous portions and prices between $10 to $20. The dishes here look just as good in person as they do in the menu photos.
I ordered the Tonkotsu Shoyu, which came with sliced pork, fried, seaweed, corn, scallions, and beansprouts, all in a rich soy sauce broth. It’s one of the best tonkotsu I’ve had in Edmonton, with actual meat on the cutlet instead of the usual thin katsu.
Pro Tip: If you’re craving wings, don’t miss their buy 1, get 1 free deal on Fat Man Little Chicken Wings for just $9.95 for 6 pieces. It’s a tasty and budget-friendly way to double up on flavour! |

Operating Hours:
- Monday to Thursday – 12 PM to 2:30 PM; 5 PM to 8:30 PM
- Friday to Sunday – 11:30 AM to 3 PM; 4:30 PM to 9 PM
Nomiya was one of the pioneers to bring ramen to Edmonton, and we finally got to check it out as a family. The red and black accents, along with the torii gates, made the space feel both inviting and traditional.
We came for lunch and ordered black garlic ramen and a bento box with grilled saba, crispy tofu, and nigiri sushi. The ramen stood out with its rich broth and well-prepared noodles, and we also liked how the bento box let us mix and match our favourites.
Pro Tips: Bring the Nomiya experience home with their ramen kits, packed with handmade noodles, rich tonkatsu broth, and secret sauces. Each kit serves two and comes in Miso, Shio, or Shoyu. Every Tuesday, you can grab a ramen combo for 2 at just $35. It includes two bowls of ramen, two mini donburi, and two green teas. |

Menjiro is known for its housemade egg-free ramen noodles. It’s also the first spot in the city to serve tori paitan, a creamy chicken-based broth that gets its name from “tori” meaning chicken and “paitan” meaning white and creamy.
Their menu has something for everyone, with dishes ranging from $10 to $20. The Dragon Ramen caught my eye with its spicy kick, and for those who prefer something leaner, they also have vegetarian options.
Pro Tip: You can start collecting stamps for a free ramen bowl by picking up a ramen stamp card in-store. Just collect ten stamps from dine-in ramen orders, and get Tonkotsu or Shoyu on your next visit! |

Sapporo Ramen and Bubble Tea is a great find in the northside, offering a casual setup where you order at the counter and grab a seat. The space is small but inviting, with a menu that includes ramen, udon, bento boxes, rice bowls, burgers, and bubble tea.
Since I was craving something comforting, I went for the chicken ramen. The broth had a rich chicken flavour with a hint of salt and a smooth, soothing taste from the soy sauce and seasonings.
Pro Tip: Sapporo also offers party platters, and while they usually need a day’s notice, they might be able to prepare one in just an hour if needed. Just keep in mind that wait times could be longer during the dinner rush. |

Website: https://kazokuramen.ca/
Address: 16518 100 Ave NW

Kozuku Ramen is a warm and welcoming family-owned spot on the west side with a kid-friendly setup. Their menu has a solid selection of ramen, including rich tonkotsu, spicy miso, and a vegetarian option for those looking for plant-based dishes.
I tried the goma chilli ramen, and the combination of miso and mild chilli oil made it a satisfying choice. I also like that they even offer a dry version with less broth for a different take on ramen.
Pro Tip: Bring cash or debit, as credit cards aren’t accepted here. Additionally, if you’re dining with a group of five or more, expect a 15% auto-gratuity on your bill. |
