Top 3 Axe Throwing Spots in Edmonton (Because Regular Sports Just Don’t Cut It!)

I used to be sceptical about the whole lumberjack stereotype in dating, but that all changed when I met my husband. His passion for chopping wood surprisingly drew me in, and I never thought I’d find it so appealing to watch him work his magic with an axe!

Eventually, he convinced me to try axe throwing for one of our date nights, and I must admit, the adrenaline rush of hurling axes at a target was exhilarating. I discovered a newfound appreciation for the sport.

So whether you’re planning a fun date night, looking to blow off some steam, or reconsidering the lumberjack stereotype, here are the best axe-throwing spots in Edmonton you should definitely check out!

Axe Monkeys is undoubtedly one of the most popular destinations in the city for axe throwing, and I can personally attest to how enjoyable it is for beginners.

The facility is thoughtfully designed for safe axe throwing, featuring a variety of sharp tools, including knives, shurikens, and, of course, axes.

People aged 7 to 97 can join in on the excitement (as long as they can handle an axe!). Plus, they offer a mobile axe-throwing experience that can be brought right to your party for some thrilling entertainment!

Tips:

The facility also offers a Rage Room experience where you can let out all your stress on various breakable items. You have the option to bring your own breakable items or use what’s inside. I recommend doing the former, especially if you have clutter you want to get rid of!

You can upgrade the regular axes to bigger battle axes if you get a better hang of the activity. Just note that not all guests are eligible to make the upgrade due to safety protocols.

SPEEDERS may be more known as a go-kart circuit, but did you know that they also have an axe-throwing facility? If not, then you should pay this place a visit with your friends on your next hangout session.

What sets this place apart from the others, though, is that they use projected screens and digitised targets that offer different kinds of game modes. Targets can change with a switch of a button, which can really add more thrill to the overall experience!

Tips:

Note that the facility has a strict age requirement of 14 years old for guests to join the axe-throwing experience. Make sure to wear close-toed shoes and comfortable outfits to ensure no accidents or slip-ups happen during the activity!

I recommend ordering a food package for your group. Packages start at $200 and serve up to 10 guests. You also have the option to add more sides to your menu. Check out the food packages and menu items here

Child: $20 per hour, per person

Website

While axe throwing at The Hatchet may be a bit of a drive from Edmonton, the experience is well worth the journey. The facility features wooden targets rather than modern projected ones, providing an authentic axe-throwing atmosphere.

With a total of 14 lanes, each designed to accommodate two players at a time, you can enjoy a more personalised experience. If you’re planning a gathering with a larger group, the staff can easily adjust the space to ensure everyone has a great time!

Tip:

The facility allows each player to drink alcoholic beverages while axe throwing, but only a limit of 3 drinks per person is allowed. This is to ensure that no player throws axes while drunk, as it could be very dangerous!
