If you ask me, I’ll always lean toward coffee over tea. However, there are those special occasions when tea takes centre stage—especially during high tea parties, whether I’m hosting or attending.
Who says tea parties are just for kids? Numerous spots in the city offer delightful afternoon tea sessions, complete with an enticing selection of pastries, cakes, and finger sandwiches, all paired with steaming pots of freshly brewed tea.
If you’re considering making the switch from coffee to tea, check out these top tea spots in Edmonton for a truly delightful afternoon experience (I nearly converted myself)!

Care for some swanky afternoon tea at the city’s historic and most prestigious hotel? If you love high teas, luxurious vibes, and overall world-class service, a definite must-try is the afternoon tea at Fairmont Hotel Macdonald.
This afternoon tea session only happens every Saturday and Sunday at 12:00 noon and 2:30 pm. Each seating comes with an array of the hotel’s signature sandwiches, pastries, biscuits, and a selection of premium loose-leaf teas.
Tips: You can order your afternoon tea to-go if you don’t have the time to visit the hotel. Orders must be placed at least two days in advance via phone and should be picked up only on Saturdays and Sundays, between 2:00 pm and 4:00 pm only. The tea menu often changes, depending on the season. If you want to check out the latest changes on the menu, you can refer to this page for updates. I recommend calling the hotel about your dietary restrictions and allergies before confirming a reservation. The staff will prepare your tea and snacks accordingly! |
The Art of Cake

Address: 11811 105 Ave NW
Contact Details: +1 780 441 1339
Operating Hours:
Tuesday to Saturday, 10:00 am to 6:00 pm
Sunday, 10:00 am to 5:00 pm
Price Range: $$$
The Art of Cake’s monthly High Tea Table sessions turn a simple cup of tea into a festive experience, with themed events inspired by the brew of the month and global celebrations!
For example, October is Halloween month, so high teas will be served according to the theme of spooky Halloween. There will be tarot reading, spooky decor, and limited edition tea flavours.
Tips: It’s important to note that the high tea menu is final. The staff can’t accommodate specific dietary requests and allergies, so if you’re very particular with what will be served or can’t eat certain food on the menu, it’s better to sit this one out. The place gets very crowded, and the high tea sessions get fully booked fast. I recommend booking at least 2 weeks in advance to secure a slot. Just note that the number of people you reserve for will be final and any additional persons to be added will be subject to the availability of extra tables. |

Operating Hours:
Tuesday to Friday, 10:00 am to 5:00 pm
Saturday to Sunday, 9:00 am to 3:00 pm

The Old Beverly Cafe is a hidden gem for high tea that won’t hurt your wallet. I’ve enjoyed several visits here with my mum for a quick catch-up, and I must say, despite the affordable prices, the quality and service are top-notch.
Their spread includes a delightful selection of black and green teas, paired with sandwiches, scones, pastries, cakes, and tarts—perfect complements to any brew you choose.
Just keep in mind that their high tea service starts a bit later than most tea salons and cafes in the city!
Tips: Reservations for afternoon tea at the cafe should be done with at least two weeks of lead time. They typically raise the price per head the closer you book to your desired date. Don’t forget to input all of your dietary preferences and restrictions in the reservation portal before confirming your appointment! They offer both vegan and vegetarian options, but I can’t promise that their menu items are halal. |
The Vintage Fork

If you want another upscale recommendation for traditional British afternoon tea, I highly recommend booking a seat at The Vintage Fork. While the prices are on the higher side, the meals are well worth it and loved by many.
Their set menus cater to various dietary needs, featuring standout options like smoked salmon and a four-course meal paired with cocktails. Of course, you also get a selection of premium loose-leaf teas (made in-house!) that are brewed fresh in front of you!
Tips: If you want to bring the high tea experience to your home, you can order their signature loose-leaf teas from their online store. They deliver all over Edmonton for free and even give you the option to order a sample package of 3 teas. You can browse their collection here. Note that they only offer afternoon tea sessions every Saturday and Sunday from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm. You can, however, enjoy their tea collection at any time if you prefer to sample them on their own! |

Tuesday and Wednesday, 2:00 pm to 7:00 pm
Friday, 11:00 am to 7:00 pm
Saturday and Sunday, 11:00 am to 5:00 pm

Cafe Bel Air prides itself as the only Mauritian restaurant and cafe in Western Canada, so you can expect their high tea experience to be a little different than your usual British one.
What sets this tea place apart is that it offers an all-vegetarian menu featuring flavours from Mauritius. You’ll munch on tarts with mango jam, soya keema sandwiches, pani puri, hummus, and more while sipping on refreshing herbal tea.
Tips: There is no age limit or minimum requirement to take part in the high tea experience. In fact, kids can join you with the option to order hot chocolate instead of tea! However, the food menu is set. Since the food menu is set, the staff can’t accommodate dietary restrictions and preferences. If you’re inviting a group of more than 7 people, you’ll need to reserve your booking via phone call. All payments will be made online and are final! |
Reinette Cafe and Patisserie

Address: 301 Woodvale Rd W
Contact Details: +1 780 577 0974
Operating Hours: Tuesday to Saturday, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm
Price Range: $$
If variety is what you’re after, I highly recommend keeping Reinette Cafe and Patisserie on your radar for great tea and tarts. This tea salon offers a wide range of treats from macarons to cheesecake that are best paired with a piping pot of freshly brewed tea.
Their high tea set features three tiers, starting with the value set at $30 per head. The highest tier costs $50 per head and features more pastries, cakes, and some savoury options like scones and sandwiches.
Tips: Note that there are two branches of the salon in the city. Only the branch at West Edmonton Mall offers the $30 tea seat, so if you’re on a budget, I recommend heading there! This is also the branch that accepts walk-ins, but that’s subject to availability. I highly recommend booking your tea experience at least two days in advance. You can pre-order your tea items as well. That way they can easily prepare the food and drinks if you have any dietary concerns or preferences. |
The Cove Tea Company

Address: Brookside Ave, Spruce Grove
Contact Details: +1 780 893 4080

For unique tea blends you won’t easily find in the city, take a short drive to Spruce Grove and visit The Cove Tea Company. They offer everything from tea lattes to concentrated elixirs!
I had never tried a tea elixir or tea bomb until visiting, and they add a fun, modern twist to the traditional tea experience. Popular favourites include the fruity Paradise Island and the citrusy London Fog Tea Bomb.
Tips: The tea store has a service that can deliver new and fresh tea selections to your doorstep every week or month. You can customise how often you want your teas delivered using this portal here. The store releases limited edition tea products every season, so make sure you tune in to their Instagram page for updates on the latest offers, releases, and promotions. |

Clair-i-Tea offers one of the most unique high tea experiences I’ve ever tried in the city, all thanks to the psychic services that they offer while you enjoy your session. It’s not everyone’s cup of tea, but at least it’s there if you’re interested in trying it out!
Their menu includes egg salads, finger sandwiches, mini scones, mini quiches, mini bread pudding, and a variety of mini cakes and pastries to complement your tea of choice. Readings can be done for an additional fee!
Tips: Note that the high tea experience with the reading session requires a minimum of 4 persons. If you wish to do a reading during the experience, you have to book your session at least a week in advance in order for the salon to find a psychic for you. If you decide to become a regular here, you can apply for a membership at the Clair-i-Tea Club. This monthly membership entitles you to a scone, a pot of tea, a bag of loose-leaf tea, and 10% discounts on food and bulk orders. Membership starts at $19.99 a month! Learn more about it here. |

I’m obsessed with the French macarons from Macarons and Goodies French Bakery!
The best way to enjoy them? Book their Royal High Tea Party, priced at $55 per person.
While it’s on the pricier side for high tea in the city, it’s worth every penny. You’ll indulge in a delightful spread of sweet and savoury bites, including crème brûlée, macarons, quiches, croissants, sandwiches, and more—all perfectly paired with freshly brewed tea.
Tips: Can’t wait to try them? Save yourself the wait and pre-book your high tea session by calling their hotline. Brew and Bloom, the city’s first floral restaurant, is perfect for a girls’ day out. Sip tea, enjoy pastries and sandwiches, and soak in the beautiful blooms. It’s a must-try experience for anyone who loves aesthetically pleasing cafes!
If you’re looking for something heavier, they also have brunch, lunch, and dinner options that you can order a la carte if you wish. One thing’s certain—you’ll leave with great memories and even better photos!
Tips: If you like their high tea, then you might like their cocktails too! They offer Happy Hour every day from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm. During this time, their wines are 50% off, and there are more discounts on select food items on their menu. Parking can be tricky here, especially on Fridays and Sundays. I recommend getting to the cafe early to snag a slot by the street or park at the lot near MacEwan Residence. |

Saturday and Sunday, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm
Price Range: $$
Ayco Café is another top spot for a lovely afternoon tea, whether it’s for Mother’s Day, a special celebration, or even a bachelorette party. They’re also one of the few tea spots that offer halal, vegan, and gluten-free options on their menu.
The menu features sweet delights like macarons and scones, along with savoury treats such as smoked salmon tarts and pesto brioche. Everything is arranged on elegant tiers, it’s not just delicious but also a fantastic photo opportunity!
Tips: To get a better bang for the buck, try ordering more pastries and food items for takeout. Many customers (myself included) have received a discount on orders when they bought 6 or more items. This doesn’t happen all the time, but it doesn’t hurt to give it a try on your first visit! Some of their items, like the croissants, tend to sell out pretty quickly. If you want to buy some for takeout, I recommend dropping by in the morning or early in the afternoon. You can also order some during your high tea experience! |
Mood Cafe

If you’re seeking an afternoon tea experience that will keep you full until dinner, I highly recommend visiting Mood Cafe. Starting at $90 per person, this tea session is one of the most abundant I’ve encountered this season, and every penny is worth it.
You’ll enjoy a selection of four varieties of sandwiches, tarts, cakes, and mousse, along with freshly baked scones served with preserves and homemade cream. Plus, there’s a stunning chocolate-dipped strawberry tower featuring 48 different flavours!
Tips: The afternoon tea set requires a 48-hour notice. Any reservations or bookings made after that will be moved to the next available date. Aside from the strawberry tower, you can also opt for either a macaron tower (featuring 40 different flavours) or a mini cake tower (only available during playoff season). Need a little caffeine? You can switch your tea pot with some freshly brewed cups of coffee instead. |
