If you love the idea of building your dream wedding from the ground up, The Creative Hive is the perfect venue. This expansive industrial space offers a blank canvas, giving you the freedom to bring your vision to life exactly as you imagine it.
The venue is divided into two Hives, both of which can be rented out separately or all together. This gives you more flexibility when accommodating between 50 and 250 guests.
There’s even a small courtyard tucked in the middle of the venue if you want a super small, 20-person wedding!
Tips: Take note that the venue has vendors that they work with exclusively. Corkage fees may apply if you wish to book other third-party organisers, but these can be negotiated with the sales team during your appointment. The venue charges a mandatory cleaning fee for every booking. Fees will vary depending on the guest size and the number of Hives you book. Event insurance is also required here, and if you don’t know where to get it, the venue offers policies you can choose from. |
The University of Alberta Botanical Garden

Best For: Garden weddings, outdoor weddings
The University of Alberta Botanical Garden offers endless possibilities for your big day, with eight unique venues and charming pocket gardens to host your ceremony and reception.
With so many stunning options, you’re free to choose the perfect setting to match your vision.
What’s great about this garden venue is that the spaces give you a lot of flexibility in terms of guest capacity. Popular sites include the sprawling wedding patio, Pine Pavilion, Alpine Garden, the amphitheatre, and the Kurimoto Japanese Garden.
Tips: If you know that some of your guests will require accessibility and mobility services, you can request a shuttle service on your big day! The shuttle can take your guests to and from the ceremony venues within the botanical garden. Take advantage of the free engagement photo session that’s included in the booking. The Cornerstone
– Media from cornerstoneyeg
Address: 5015 127 St SW
Contact Details: +1 780 887 5026
Operating Hours: Monday to Saturday, 9:00 am to 7:00 pm
Guest Capacity: 80 to 125 guests
Best For: Farm weddings, barn house wedding, outdoor wedding
Set on 60-acre farmland, The Cornerstone offers the perfect space and backdrop for a dreamy outdoor and farm wedding for the rustic couple. This sprawling space features a 5,000-square-foot estate for indoor receptions, a white barn, and a pretty gazebo.
For outdoor ceremonies, you have apple trees, wheat fields, and lush lawns to put up your dream aisle.
You have the creative freedom to design the space as you like it, but my recommendation is to make use of the barn or the estate because of their classy and rustic design.
Tips: This venue is also a great option for winter weddings. Just note that the Estate House will only be available from May to November, so winter weddings in December and January may not be feasible (unless you choose the barn). The venue recommends booking their preferred planners for better communication and coordination of wedding designs. If you booked another planner, it’s best to have them communicate with the venue management months in advance for better preparation. |
